Alert-City Suspends Special Programming Action to Prevent Public from Evolving COVID-19

El Paso, TX- In the interest of protecting the public's health and safety from the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, the City of El Paso is suspending all special programming at parks, libraries, museums, and other locations until further notice. 

It is important to note, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in El Paso. 


Facilities and programs include: 
1. All Senior Centers are closed; all meals for seniors will still be available beginning March 17th.

1a. Hilos de la Plata Senior Center will only be operational for County Workers who prepare food for County Senior Inspection. 

2. Youth and adult sports programs to include sports tournaments are suspended.

3. Programs and classes offered at aquatic centers, libraries, museums, recreational centers, and the El Paso Zoo are suspended. 

3a. Facilities will remain open but without programming


These steps implemented out of an abundance of caution are intended to protect residents and visitors.


ALL LIBRARY PROGRAMS SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Come celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday




We will be raffling off a Dr. Seuss basket, to enter for the drawing simply check out 5 books and you get an entry into the drawing. Every 5 items checked out earns you a ticket. The more you check out the better your chances are at winning.

Basket includes: Cat in the hat-HAT, candy, two Dr. Seuss books, How the Grinch stole Christmas DVD, Nickelodeon slime kit and two bubble wands.

Make Your Voice Count Competition

This Saturday a Census team will be hosting a "Social Media Creative Content" competition for local high school students.

More information about the event:

-The goal is to promote the 2020 Census using a social media platform of choice (Tik Tok, IG Video, Facebook, Snapchat, etc.)
-The social media video will be 15-20 seconds long.
-Guidelines for the videos will be provided during the event.
-The students will have 30 minutes to brainstorm during the event and will perform/record their video or concept in front of our three judges during the event.
-The three judges will pick 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners.

There will be prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. First place will receive $300, second $150 and third will receive $50.
